Role of the IOFI Secretariat The various committees and working groups are supported by the IOFI Secretariat, which has its operational offices in Brussels, Belgium. Its tasks include: - A continuous effort in the interest of the industry following the IOFI Mission and Objectives.
- Coordination of all activities organized in the name of IOFI and its members.
- Serving as an effective advocate for the IOFI members by representing industry interest on a global level assisting regional and national members in their legislative and regulatory activities.
- Participating in the harmonization of global flavor legislation.
- Providing information and advice on the status of established flavor regulation in various countries .
- Collecting confidential information on a worldwide basis on the identity and use levels of flavoring substances.
- Collecting data on safety studies on flavoring ingredients, with the aim of facilitating their evaluation by scientific bodies.
- Preparing publications on safety and regulatory matters.
- Keeping IOFI's members informed on scientific, legal, regulatory and other relevant matters through Information Letters and Documentation Bulletins, the Code of Practice and its incorporated Guidelines.
- Keeping the Code of Practice and similar IOFI documents updated.
- Participating in international meetings, hearings and conferences to help promote the interests of IOFI and the global harmonization of flavor legislation.
- Maintaining good relationship with related associations.
