The International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI) was founded in 1969 and is a worldwide federation of national and regional associations whose members represent national and international flavour producers.

At the time it was set up, the flavour and food industry was characterised by local markets regulated by national legislation. Today, the industry and the regulations are becoming much more international with food and flavour companies operating on a global scale.

IOFI operates at the global level and is engaged principally in activities which ensure a supply of safe flavour materials.
